NBC news reported that 28.8% of men and 26.6% of women are experiencing pain. Whether it be from arthritis, cancer, HIV, etc. the statistics are shocking. Aren't they? Is this the consequence of being able to live longer lives? Are Americans being punished because medicine has advanced far enough to extend certain illnesses? There isn't one clear answer it seems, but what is more than apparent is the amount of money ordinary citizens are spending on medication: over the counter and prescription. An estimated 2.6 billion dollars was spent last year on over the counter medicines and a whopping 13.8 billion dollars on prescription drugs. In addition to the sky rocketing gas prices, the ever increasing amount we are paying for groceries, mortgages, credit card bills and the price we pay to be somewhat healthy, it is no wonder that we are all in debt.
While the oil and drug companies are living in wealth, the real people out there are suffering, more than ever. Perhaps people shouldn't be so afraid of socialism after all (see my earlier post on Hillary interview), we need all the help we can get. Having Glaxo Smith Kline and Exxon soaring in profits and the every day citizen swimming in debt, brings the realization home that big businesses are completely immoral.

Am I the only one who reads your blog? Anyway, I don't think this country will ever get sorted out. It will keep getting worse and worse!
What I find so extraordinary is that the figures quoted are only for the amount spent on pain medicine, so it is no wonder that the drug companies make such huge profits. What the USA needs is a good dose of socialism to remove some of the difference between being rich and being poor. Robin Hood stole from the rich and gave to the poor - that was illegal, but it was a step in the right direction. Get yourselves a government that will take from the rich and give to the poor - legally !!
It's a dog's life if you're poor. RUFF!
Did you ever stop to think Ida Baby, that much of this happened since 1995, including ADD. All this time we have been subjected to pesticides, lead, pcb's, and anything else you can imagine. The answer is to take their Chinese pills. With the lack of health care, people are just falling over with heart attacks, many in their early fifties, some younger.
Hillary Clinton went from pauper to rich lady - she does not feel our pain. The Clintons are worth in excess of 110 million, and have seen the light.
Is this one of those spam comments that make no sense?
"Ida Baby", what moron would type that? Must be some tough guy that never got the memo that women don't usually like to be called "baby" by random strangers. And yes, his comment makes no sense. Chinese pills? ADD? When you learn how to read and write well formed sentences, leave another comment, until then piss off!
