American Idol Is At It Again

I am in England, so I know this news is arriving a little late.

The AI results show just aired here last night, and once again the producers of American Idol, I mean the voters, shocked us all! Or didn't they?

First off, Jason Castro and Brooke White can't sing. Well they can sing, but not well. So, keeping them in is just further proof that talent never matters in this society. Second thing is, Carly Smithson getting the boot really doesn't surprise me.

When she came out to sing "Jesus Christ Superstar", I immediately thought of thousands of mid-west Americans complaining about the lyrics. A lot of Americans have never even heard the song or seen the rock opera, and might get offended by the message. I did think her choosing the song would get her kicked off. In addition to the lyrics, the singing wasn't up to scratch. It sounded like she was taking a shit. Smithson strained a little too much and as Paula would say, "It was pitchy". Some people can't hear an off note when a singer is shouting, but I can. The performance was not good, but that's not to say that Jason's and Brooke's were.

Simon explained that Brooke got through for being "human" by mistakenly starting and stopping the song because of a forgotten lyric. But really, do people need to keep putting through some girl because she is likeable? Is that really going to sell albums?

Jason Castro whispered his way through "Memory" from Cats. It was probably the worst performance of the season, but his cute smirks, pot eyes and dirty mangled hair brought him through again in the end, again proving that true talent doesn't count.

I was shocked at one thing, Syesha being in the bottom two. I thought she gave a fantastic performance, but I guess fantastic performances don't count either.
